Summary
Get started with the Outreachy internship via onboarding tasks and connecting with key Fedora inviduals
Background
Welcome to the Fedora Project via the Outreachy program! The following tasks will get you started in learning more about Fedora, the community, and the stakeholders you will work with during the internship. Refer to the "Intern Onboarding Guide" shared with you for more details.
Details
I'm adding this to Sprint 5, as you started your internship in the middle of this sprint, and you have already worked on (and completed) some of these tasks. However I will extend the due date to the middle of Sprint 6 as some of these are dependent not just on your schedule but also the others you are planning to meet.
Check off the items as you complete each one, and feel free to add more details in the comments as you deem fit.
Outcome
Intern gets to know more about the Fedora project and community, strengthening the foundation for the Outreachy project work.
Hello, @cybette! Thanks for assigning me this issue.
The first four items in the checklist are complete.
Regarding the fifth one, I have reached all of them on Matrix, and already spoke with @jonatoni and have a meeting scheduled with @ananya tomorrow and with @dominikkawka on Thursday. I am still waiting to hear from @jspaleta, @dvolavko, and @ekidney. @madelinepeck will have a virtual meeting planned with me around the first week of June. @amoloney said to contact someone else in the Fedora Ops Architect Team, who would be a good fit for my topic of discussion.
Also, I sent a text message to @zlopez this morning to discuss the mini-project and demo it in a meeting that we planned for tomorrow, May 26.
Great work @gtfrans2re! Check with @jflory7 in the sprint planning meeting today who else to contact in the Fedora Ops Architect Team.
Alright! Thank you, @cybette. I will do as you suggest at the sprint meeting. Talk to you in an hour!
Following up from our sprint planning meeting today, I will follow up with Aoife about the intro call with her. In a future sprint, when we get to packaging, Tim Flink (@tflink) will be a great person to connect with in a later sprint too.
Thank you in advance for this effort, @jflory7. We will be awaiting your updates from the discussions with @amoloney and with @tflink in the near future.
Hello, @cybette! Since this assigned issue is due today, and as agreed on in the internship channel, I have checked off all remaining items. @madelinepeck just scheduled a meeting for us to meet next week. I am still waiting to hear back from @jspaleta and @dvolavko; However, since I have already texted them on Matrix, they will get back to me when the time is more convenient. Also, I will follow up with them in a month or so, as suggested on Matrix.
Nicely done. Hope this provided you with a welcoming integration into the Fedora community!
Thank you for your mentorship and unwavering support. It truly provided me with a warm welcome into our community, which I can honestly call my family now.
