Fedora Release Version
F45
Proposed Event Date
Friday, 30 October 2026
Background
As we celebrate the F44 release, it is fresh in our minds just how much work goes into pulling off a great Release Party. To make sure we avoid the last-minute scramble and prevent contributor burnout, we are opening this planning ticket early in advance for Fedora Linux 45 (targeting October 2026).
Establishing this long runway gives us the time we need to crowd-source ideas, delegate tasks comfortably, and build a truly inclusive event without the stress of a compressed timeline. Furthermore, we are looking forward to welcoming back @amoloney during this cycle, and having this operational structure already in flight will help ensure a smooth, welcoming transition back into the fold!

Community Impact
The Global Virtual Release Parties have become a cornerstone of our community and our release process. It is the moment we pause to recognize the immense volunteer effort, late nights, and collaborative spirit that makes the Fedora Project possible.
Fedora Linux 45 is shaping up to be a landmark release, highlighted by the Alan Turing theme and some fantastic desktop innovations. Because F45 also serves as the critical upstream branch point for the wider ecosystem (including CentOS Stream 11), we anticipate high visibility and a unique opportunity to welcome a new wave of users and contributors to our community. By starting our planning now, we ensure that the F45 Release Party remains a joyful, well-organized celebration of our people and our shared technical achievements, rather than a frantic logistical hurdle.
How to Get Involved
If you would like to get involved in the next Virtual Fedora Release Party:
#commops:fedoraproject.orgDiscussed in the 2026-06-23 Community Ops Team meeting.
The team kicked off early planning for the Virtual F45 Release Party, establishing a tentative target date of Friday, October 30, 2026. The immediate priority is identifying leads for various operational streams (Wrangler, Speakers, Design, Promotion, and Video). Several community members have already stepped forward, including @cybette for promotion/content and
root_dirfor design assets.Follow-up Items:
Discussed in 2026-09-15 Community Ops meeting.
We initiated organizing for the Fedora Linux 45 Release Party scheduled for October 30th (a 3-hour virtual event). Three of the five organizer roles were confirmed during the meeting:
Outreach will occur to secure leads for Design (@ekidney or @madelinepeck) and Production & Video (@neil), and to invite @cybette to co-lead promotions. @shaunm will draft a Fedora Magazine save-the-date announcement, and @mwinters will consider submitting a 10-minute Data WG talk.
