Certain states and countries are implementing requirements for Operating Systems to incorporate age gathering and sharing tools.
This is intended to allow other applications to 'know' what age a user is, and thus gate such individuals from certain content or activities.

Should Fedora take a stand or have an opinion on 'age gating' technologies in operating systems?

If we can come to some kind of team consensus, we could represent that point of view as our 'official' view as DEI team. We could then ask other groups in Fedora to take a stance to develop a Fedora Project view on the issue.

A Fedora discussion on the issue.

From a DEI perspective, I oppose such measures that will cut off access to potentially life-saving information and support networks for LGBT youth.

IMHO, this is something that should be addressed on the Council level for project-wide response. I do not think the DEI Team is the right body in Fedora to lead this message. This feels like a departure from the main focuses of our charter: events like #62 and #63, and regional support like #45, #56, and #57.

Enough time has passed here and we haven't gotten much inertia to push this forward yet. I still believe that this is an expansion of scope for our team, so this may not be the best place to drive such a conversation. This should be more of a Fedora Council-run statement, IMHO.

I'm going to go ahead and close this, but happy to revisit if we want to spend more time on this.
