Bootc Sealed Images logo #55

What do you need?

Sealed bootc images is a combination of of open source technologies that gives users end-to-end operating system integrity attestation. This allows you to have cryptographic guarantees of OS integrity from boot through to continuous runtime checking every time system files are read.

And the word SEAL is right there for the taking for a logo!

Request type

Graphic Design / Artwork (logo, an icon, an infographic, swag design, etc.)

Problem Statement

We want to promote a serious topic with a fun animal. It would make for silly stickers.

I'm open to other ideas but we all thought it would be pretty funny to put the bootc/podman seal into a big spiky snail shell like it was a hermit crab.

With some combination of words to pull it together... "Bootc Sealed Images" is all I got at the moment.

Contacts

Mark Russell mrussell@redhat.com
Upstream projects: bootc/composefs primarily though other technologies are involved.

Deadline

Stickers by summit would be amazing, but I understand this is coming in quite late.

I think I can handle the sticker printing, maybe. But if someone has pointers, I'd be much obliged.

Due to the goal I put this in as a high, but totally understand if our recent idea is a little late for RHS.

Who will benefit?

It will promote an important new community initiative for folks who are interested in greater system integrity and attestation.

Inspiration Examples

There's the whole podman / bootc logo universe to base this on.

Priority / Severity

High (This will bring a huge increase in performance/productivity/usability cover)

Thinking of podman and you wanting an animal makes me think of an animal that hides in a shell
... Armadillo or a pangolin

Hey @mrussell thanks for making this ticket! I appreciate you reaching out, and also for Mo for thinking of the design team and me.

Summit is May 11-14th, so you'd probably need something within the next week to make printing possible? It might be doable with pre-existing Podman seal SVGs. My capacity is a little lower because I'm going on PTO for two weeks May 6th, and a lot of deadlines have been moved up to accommodate that.

We have a sprint planning meeting at the beginning of next week, so I'll let you know how feasible this is with your preferred deadline. I know the Project Hummingbird team ordered stickers for their logo through stickerapp.com so they might have rush options for shipping and printing, not sure!

In my opinion 4 or 5 works best for this

I'd move the eyebrows a little bit lower, but looks good overall.

Trying to keep the shell simple, but get that stripe that's so classic to conch-type shells

Uploading the svg bc I know I mentioned to Jess being open to collaborating, and also good just for documentation!
