This week, my priority is finishing up the Fedora wallpaper, but this will be on my list of to-dos next week to get the visual done, so we can get this completed by the Flock retrospective meeting on the 15th.

Following today's Design Team meeting (meeting notes), I pinged @t0xic0der on Matrix about the Flock 2026 talk data from Pretalx.

Key updates:

@t0xic0der confirmed that both the 2025 and 2026 talk data have been pulled from Pretalx using @moralcode's script. The CSVs are split across tracks (there is no single CSV for all talks/sessions).
The CSVs have been uploaded to the shared Google Drive folder. @ekidney and @madelinepeck have access.
The thumbnail workflow uses Inkscape's Next Generator extension with a template — thumbnails are not handmade. Hand-edits are only needed for talks with very long titles or many speakers (e.g. leadership panels).

@madelinepeck confirmed she will start working on this next week after finishing the wallpaper work, aiming to have it done by the Flock retrospective on July 15th.

Also, nice work with the generated thumbnails - Once @jflory7 provides the YouTube access is provided to @sdglitched, he can take it from there to upload the thumbnails as well as the descriptions accordingly. Now to worry about the missing footages...

On the second look, could you please (preferably losslessly) compress these thumbnails to fit under 2 MiB each? I just noticed that each of these thumbnails are approximately 20 MiB big and given the YouTube's image size limit, these simply won't work.

Give pngquant a try. This is my workflow step when I process raw / high-quality sources into lossy PNGs. You can use optipng for lossless compression, but you will usually only get marginal results, maybe a few MBs in savings but not the amount of decreased file size as one would expect.

# Install from Fedora Linux repos
$ sudo dnf install pngquant

# Check current file size
$ ls -Alh Artifact_Signing_in_Fedora.png 
-rw-r--r--. 1 jwheel jwheel 20M 2026-07-15 20:56 Artifact_Signing_in_Fedora.png

# Scale down the file size of a PNG file
$ pngquant --quality=65-85 --speed=1 --ext=.png --force Artifact_Signing_in_Fedora.png 

# Check new file size

Currently, I've added all the Titles and Descriptions for the 34 videos (excluding the 3rd Day of Topaz). Once the thumbnails are ready, I will upload them as well.

Just wanted to check if it's required for thumbnails in the future to work for mobile uploads. I was able to compress them under 4mb and will keep compressing to get them under 2mb, but I know that YouTube allows bigger size thumbnails if they're uploaded on desktop vs mobile.

You're spot on about the desktop uploads. I just gave the original 19MB file a try on my end, and it went right through:
