ffmpeg is a package that get's many CVE's.
ffmpeg in epel9 is version 5. I have been told that the last update it got was the last it will get.
qt6-qtwebengine in epel9 will not update with an ffmpeg lower than ffmpeg 7. I've tried for over a year to try to get around this with no avail.
I want to update the ffmpeg in epel9 to the same version as epel10, which is ffmpeg 7.1.5, and keep it in sync with the epel10 version.
There are a few packages that need to be updated in order for ffmpeg to update, as well as many packages that will need to be rebuilt or updated to go along with the ffmpeg update.
Needed by ffmpeg:
Need recompile or updating:
This will all be done in a side tag.
For the majority of packages that just require a rebuild, I plan on bumping the release and rebuilding them. For some of the more complicated ones like Chromium and Blender, I plan on working with the maintainers.
One update from the mailing thread.
I will build these on epel9-next and then when epel 9.9 comes out, I will sync over and rebuild them all on epel9
+1
