Other Information
FreeIPA moved its organization from Pagure to Codeberg earlier this year. However, Codeberg made decision to ban AI-assisted software and new FreeIPA-related projects need to find new home.
For details: https://codeberg.org/Codeberg/org/pulls/1253/files
I would be hesitant to say FreeIPA is strictly speaking Fedora-specific. However, it is listed under Foundational ecosystem tools eligible for exception at https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/the-forge-is-our-new-home/ -- I do not know who should grant such exceptions, but if it were me, I'd +1 that.
Just curious, do you consider FreeIPA a project that mostly consists of code written by "generative AI"-tools (which is what CodeBerg has banned), or are you moving out of CodeBerg on the side of caution?
As I said, this is about new IPA components which are written with the help of ai tools: new oauth2 identity provider, new ACME server, and a number of libraries to support them.
An exception request has been filed with the Fedora Council: council/tickets#575
@ryanlerch the council did approve the exception. Can we get the organization created, please?
This has been completed. The freeipa organization has been created on Fedora Forge, and the forge-freeipa-owners and forge-freeipa-members Fedora Accounts groups have been set up. The Owners and Members teams have been created in the freeipa organization on Forge, and are mapped to the corresponding Fedora Accounts groups.
@abbra has been added as a sponsor and member of both
forge-freeipa-ownersandforge-freeipa-members. As a sponsor, @abbra can add additional members to these groups via Fedora Accounts. If additional sponsors are required for these groups, please open a ticket in Fedora Infra tickets.
Members of the new groups will need to log out and log back in to Forge for the team membership to take effect.
