Fedora KDE SIG
Mission & Purpose
The KDE SIG (Special Interest Group) is a group of Fedora contributors that maintain KDE packages in Fedora, as well as the KDE Plasma Desktop Edition, the KDE Plasma Mobile Spin, and Fedora Kinoite. We also maintain KDE packages in EPEL.
Our mission is to provide high-quality, usable KDE software packages to Fedora users and developers, and to support one another in maintaining those packages.
What We Do
- Package and update KDE applications, frameworks, and the Plasma desktop for Fedora.
- Maintain the KDE Plasma Desktop Edition, Fedora Kinoite, and the KDE Plasma Mobile spin.
- Maintain KDE packages in EPEL.
- Review package submissions and coordinate updates across the KDE software stack.
- Test releases and updates (via
updates-testing) and triage bugs. - Maintain KDE-related documentation and wiki pages.

Communication
Weekly Meetings
We meet every Monday at 1300 US/Eastern for 1 hour on KDE's BigBlueButton instance. We discuss issues and improvements related to the KDE software stack on Fedora, especially those filed on the issue tracker. We mostly communicate using voice chat, and some of us share camera feeds; there is also text chat if you prefer that. The meeting calendar is online and you can add its iCal to your calendar software for weekly reminders.

Getting Involved
We are always looking for new contributors!
First Steps
- Say Hello: Join our Matrix room and introduce yourself.
- Attend a Meeting: We meet every Monday at 1300 US/Eastern on KDE's BigBlueButton instance. Add the meeting calendar to your own calendar for reminders.
- Pick an Issue: Check out our open issues on the issue tracker.
How You Can Help
To get started contributing, you will first need to:
- Create an account on the Fedora Accounts Service (FAS).
- Go to your account settings and sign the Fedora Project Contributor Agreement.
- Go to your account page and join a group by contacting their team or sponsors (required for wiki editing).
Areas Fedora KDE always needs help with:
- Packagers: Many interesting packages are not yet packaged for Fedora. See the Fedora Packaging Guidelines, follow the Packaging Tutorial, and check out the KDE Packaging Guidelines.
- Reviewers: Only a few people do KDE-related reviews. Help us review so that more packages can be included.
- Testing/QA: Use the updates-testing repository and report bugs. You might also like to get acquainted with Fedora's QA process.
- Docs: Help write and maintain the Fedora KDE documentation and keep the info up to date. Contribute via the user-docs source repository (clone:
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/kde/user-docs.git).
Joining the SIG
Joining the KDE SIG is as simple as being part of Fedora and having a love for KDE. Once you are a contributor to Fedora, you can join the SIG and communicate with the rest of the team in the usual Fedora channels.
