Fedora Mentored Projects

Mission & Purpose

The Fedora Mentored Projects Working Group coordinates Fedora's participation in Outreachy and Google Summer of Code (GSoC). We review project proposals from community mentors, allocate program funding, and support mentors and interns throughout their engagement. Since 2005, Fedora contributors have mentored dozens of interns across projects ranging from fullstack web development to AI-assisted packaging tools to community outreach campaigns.

Getting Involved

1. Say Hello: Join #mentoring:fedoraproject.org on Matrix or introduce yourself on the mentored-projects-team tag on Fedora Discussion.
2. Read the Handbooks: We maintain handbooks for coordinators, mentors, and accepted interns.
3. Propose a Project: File a ticket using one of our issue templates.
4. Pick an Issue: Look for good first issue or help wanted in the tickets repository.
