Delete branch "%!s()"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
I was combing through some repos that still aren't migrated from Pagure and I noticed this: https://pagure.io/ambassadors/fedora-handbook
Forge doesn't have an "Ambassadors" organization, and the same group on Pagure only has the Handbook and one other repo that is empty. So it seems like creating a separate org on Pagure just for that one repo is a bit overkill. At the same time, I think saving the Handbook is worthwhile, even if we archive it and only keep it around for historical reasons - and Mindshare is probably the best place to do it.
(For those unfamiliar with the Fedora Handbook, it was a document that we used to print out as a literal physical handbook and hand out at conferences. It hasn't been updated in years, though. Recently we've had a new Beginner's Guide to Fedora published on docs.fp.o, and there's an idea floating around to turn it into a handbook again, but nothing concrete has happened so far on that front.)
If Mindshare doesn't want to take care of it, that's fine, I'll pull it into docs - but please let me know if you want it or not.
As Justin suggested in Matrix chat, I will ask the Join team if we can host it.
Actually, looking at it, it is nine years old, and ambassadorship has changed. Maybe we should archive it?
Yeah, it's very old, I'd definitely suggest archiving it at least for now. I just don't want to drop it completely because even having the repo around is a reminder that we've done this before and we could do it again.
I will get the Beginners Guide in a printable format, sometime soon.
When we reopen an Ambassdors Guide, I want to avoid using LaTex etc, not technical documents should be a one click download, and a one click print - basically deploy a PDF.
In future (no promises yet) I would be interested on working on an up to date Ambassadors and Event Guide.
+1 for archiving it
Discussed in 2026-05-28 Mindshare Committee meeting.
Summary: The Committee acknowledged the historical value of the Fedora Handbook content but noted it has not been updated in nearly nine years. To avoid maintenance overhead for legacy documentation, it was agreed to archive the repository for the time being.
