Are you a speaker or presenter?
No
Are you an organizer or volunteer?
Volunteer and can remotely co-organize if needed.
Why is it a good idea for the Fedora Project to have a presence?
It's a great idea to encourage our mission of fostering Freedom, Features, First, and Friends.
Why do you want to represent the Fedora community here?
Our west-coast involvement with SCALE has grown our event considerably. Bringing our team on would allow a fresh look on this global conference.
Are there others in the Fedora community who could help this event be successful?
Alex Acosta, if his schedule/travel permits, as well as other crew from our recent SCALE 23x event.
Is there anything else the Fedora Mindshare Committee should know when reviewing your request?
No response
Hey @lajuggler, I am excited to see an event proposal for All Things Open this year. It is one of the bigger open source events in the US which still has community roots in how the event is organized and executed.
I blame our process for not making this more clear, but have you spent much time yet making a call for participation by others in the Fedora community? Perhaps we can broaden the umbrella to make an accommodating budget proposal for people who may be more local or nearby to Raleigh too. We should lean in to recruiting local folks where possible. I know we have at least a few in Raleigh!
Would you be willing to do some outreach to start a discussion about who from the community may be attending All Things Open this year, and would like to get involved with an official Fedora planned presence?
The best place to start that conversation is likely here: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/tags/c/project/7/ambassadors-team/310
Then, based on the feedback you get, maybe you and perhaps another Fedoran could take the co-owner role on the event, and see through a budget request to the Mindshare Committee.
WDYT?

Let's see what happens! 👍
$2320 for one person for a two day event seems like a lot.
It is diifficult to decide without an idea of this years total budget.
I would prefer to see local contributors attend at a lower cost.
However, @lajuggler does write awesome event reports, and clearly has a track history of doing a great job at events.
@lajuggler, I second what @jflory7 and @theprogram mentioned. Apart from that, I am interested to know if you are requesting just for the travel and accommodation or if you are also looking for swags to be distributed during the event.
After discussion with the Mindshare team in our regular meeting, we have identified that the proposed budget would significantly impact our quarterly travel budget.
Thus, we would like to see more local people involved and attending.
@shaunm has been approached by All Things Open with the offer of a booth, as he and Jef were involved last year.
It would be ideal to have people from Raleigh NC area (where Red Hat offices are situated) to attend.
Are there more ways we can reach out to local people to get involved?
The team all noted @lajuggler has an exceptional track record and writes fantastic and consistent event reports.
Discussed in 2026-07-09 Mindshare Committee meeting.
