How do you primarily contribute to Fedora?
I use Fedora as a daily since 2017 and advocate its usage to other people.

Event description(s)
Software Freedom Day Bukidnon 2026 will happen on September 19, 2026, to join the global celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). This event will gather students, professionals, educators, and community leaders to explore how open technologies empower innovation and digital inclusion in the province of Bukidnon.
Launched in 2025 at the New Malaybalay City Hall, our inaugural event exceeded expectations, drawing 52 participants. It featured nine local and international speakers from organizations like FOSSAsia, COSCUP Taiwan, and PythonAsia. Past topics included FOSS development tools (like k3d and RT-Thread), Open GIS usage, and Linux systems. For your reference, you may view our previous event highlights via the SFD Bukidnon Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/sfd.bukidnon.ph), the After Event video (https://videos.trom.tf/w/qFxPJJXtqt8Gw1MNE7TBYD), and the CDO TechNews feature (https://www.cdotechnews.net/software-freedom-day-bukidnon-2025/).
Currently, we are in the process of assembling the pieces to make this event happen. We are seeking sponsors to help make this event possible. Support can be in the form of financial sponsorship, in-kind contributions like swags, and other event needs.
Swag needs
Software Freedom Day Bukidnon is an annual event that expects more than 100 participants. During the SFD Bukidnon 2025 last year, the actual number of participants was 52 on the event day. We do have 108 registrations at that time, but we have to move the venue to a distant city due to the scheduled power maintenance announced by the electric distribution company here in our province, 5 days before the event. Swag is a great way to promote and get people to know Fedora.
How will you use Fedora budget for this event?
This will be used for the expenses to run the event like the swags, tokens, snacks, meals (if possible), and other resources. We hope to serve more participants and offer more talks or workshops for the upcoming SFD Bukidnon 2026.
Are you a speaker or presenter?
No, but if there is a lack of speakers then I can give a talk.
Are you an organizer or volunteer?
Yes, I am the lead organizer for this event. Aside from the calls we posted on our social media (Facebook, LinkedIn), I also personally find sponsors, partners, and speakers.
Why is it a good idea for the Fedora Project to have a presence?
This event promotes FOSS, and it is the only kind of event here in our province (Bukidnon, Philippines). This is a free event, and we are solely relying on support from sponsors and partners, which is challenging. Supporting this event empowers people and raises their awareness about Free and Open Source.
Why do you want to represent the Fedora community here?
This is not just for Fedora, but for the Free and Open Source Software movement in general. I wanted other people to be aware of what FOSS is, and become users and contributors in the future. I am bringing this kind of event to my province to make it inclusive and affordable for them to join. It's expensive to join events in other countries, considering the airfare and accommodation.
Are there others in the Fedora community who could help this event be successful?
Unfortunately, I tried looking for someone to help me with this in the Matrix, but I haven't received a positive response yet.
Is there anything else the Fedora Mindshare Committee should know when reviewing your request?
I am trying to apply this as a Medium event. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find an Ambassador to team up with (no positive response from them yet).
What is the budget request? attendance? this is small event in all the countries worldwide.
Hi @lbazan, thank you for the feedback! We are requesting a fixed total of $150 USD to help cover basic event operations (snacks, localized swag, and tokens for speakers). We currently have 53 early registrations on Luma. Based on this momentum, we are projectively targeting a final turnout of between 80 to 130 participants on the event day. Since I am organizing this locally without a resident Fedora Ambassador, classifying and processing this under the standard "Small Event" tier is perfect.
Very doable. +1 from my side on the 150 USD budget ask.
Please keep on sharing more resources (websites, links, photographs, tweets etc.) from the event.
Thank you once more for representing Fedora Project!
Hi @t0xic0der, thank you for your awesome upvote and feedback! Yes, we will surely do that.
+1,
lets see what you can do!
Ambassadors program needs a refresh, maybe you can find future ambassadors at the event?
Hi @theprogram, thank you for your upvote! Hopefully, everything goes well for this event. I agree, it's a challenging part to find a Fedora Ambassador that's near where this event will happen.
I'm +1 on 150 USD. We need to do a BEAR approval. I'll follow up with you on that.
Hi @shaunm, thank you for the approval and the upvote! Hopefully, the BEAR approval goes well.
Hi everyone, here's the blog post in the Fedora Community Blog as report for this event:

We have uploaded some pictures already in the social media pages of Software Freedom Day Bukidnon:

More pictures to follow. :)
Great event report, hope to hear from you next year! (or sooner)
Thanks @harriebird. Lovely report, and great to see Fedora at SFD Bukidnon again!
@harriebird, could you post your actual spend (with a breakdown) and confirm whether you've submitted receipts for reimbursement? If you paid out of pocket before BEAR approval, please say so, and we'll make sure it's sorted. Moving this to the Q4 milestone until reimbursement is complete. After that, we can close it.
Thanks for the commend @theprogram! Hopefully, I can do more in the future.
Thanks for the commend @jnsamyak! We just paid for it first for the event. Currently, I am figuring out the reimbursement process.
