How do you primarily contribute to Fedora?

I work in Fedora Release Engineering (RelEng) on release tooling, infrastructure automation, documentation, and package management, and am also involved in community and Mindshare activities et al.

IndiaFOSS is FOSS United's flagship two-day open source conference in India, bringing together developers, contributors, and FOSS enthusiasts from across the region. Red Hat India is a sponsor of the event with a larger booth and has invited Fedora to run a sub-booth alongside them to represent the project directly to attendees.

This request is coming in on short notice. Red Hat India (event sponsor) offered Fedora a sub-booth space very close to the event, so there wasn't time to prepare a formal CFP talk. We plan to run informal Fedora knowledge trivia and community-onboarding conversations at the booth instead. And sort out swags at last minute, if we can.

Are you an organizer or volunteer?

Yes, both of us will staff the Fedora sub-booth for the duration of the event.

Why is it a good idea for the Fedora Project to have a presence?

IndiaFOSS is one of the largest FOSS gatherings in India/APAC. With Red Hat already sponsoring a large booth, a Fedora sub-booth is a low-cost, high-visibility opportunity to grow APAC adoption and onboard new contributors.

Why do you want to represent the Fedora community here?

Samyak works in Fedora Release Engineering and is active in community/Mindshare efforts; Akashdeep contributes to Fedora Forgejo and other infrastructure/community work. Together, we can speak to both the technical and community sides of the project. We have done it before in FossAsia, DevConf, Flock, FOSDEM, etc. The APAC involvement increase is on of the goal for this term.

Are there others in the Fedora community who could help this event be successful?

There are going to be a bunch of Fedora contributors at the event.
