About me

  • Name: Julia Bley / Aleksandra Fedorova

  • FAS username: jbley

  • How do you primarily contribute to Fedora?: Given my limited technical expertise I love to organize this event and support the CPE team in any capacity (e.g. step in for a CPE status update, FOSDEM) to ensure Fedora's initiatives are supported. I also sponsor the Community Design Team and help to resolve conflicts, prioritization, approaches etc.

About the event

  • Event name(s): Fedora 40 Release Party in Frankfurt, Germany

  • Event dates: June 13, 2024

  • Event location(s): Frankfurt, Germany, Red Hat Office - Rooms: Spree & Havel (confirmed)

  • Event URL(s): Fedora Discussion post

  • Event description(s) (2-4 sentences per event):
2nd Release Party in Frankfurt for the latest F40 release (yay) to bring Fedora contributors in the Frankfurt are together - after the success of the F39 Release Party. Also, we'd like to make this event a constant event and creating awareness about Fedora.

Requested support

  • Swag needs: Approximately SWAG for 15-20 people (I am also happy to store some SWAG - we have some room in the Frankfurt office 😄 ); no specific requirements and whatever works for you / is available

  • How will you use Fedora budget for this event?: For food (e.g Pizza, sandwiches) & drinks only (depending on participants, also trying to find sponsors to lower the costs if possible)

This event & Fedora

  • Are you a speaker or presenter? If yes, give the title and description of your presentation: We asked for talk proposals. I can always do a pub quiz, the Process for the wallpaper design, Community Platform Engineering update if needed

  • Are you an organizer or volunteer? If yes, explain your role: Organizer - initiating & organizing the event, collecting registrations, ensuring access to to the RH office and that things are prepared in advance

  • Why is it a good idea for the Fedora Project to have a presence?: Besides conferences there are hardly any events for the Fedora community and the release of a new Version is an amazing opportunity to come together and celebrate, connect, create awareness & visibility.

  • Why do you want to represent the Fedora community here?: having a place to connect with like minded people everything around Fedora & strengthening the community, building a stronger network around Fedora & open source, creating visibility and awareness around Fedora primarily for community members but also people who are interested to know more about Fedora and its community

  • Are there others in the Fedora community who could help this event be successful? If yes, name any key individuals, teams, or SIGs in the Fedora community needed for success: Aleksandra Fedorova (bookwar)

Other

  • Is there anything else the Fedora Mindshare Committee should know when reviewing your request?: Feel free to reach out at any time in case you have questions and/or require more information
