I'm going to run a Fedora booth at LinuxDays 2024 in Prague like every year since 2011. It's the biggest Linux event in the Czech Republic with 1000+ attendees. I will also have a talk on Fedora on the Apple Silicon. I'd like to ask the Fedora Project to sponsor my accommodation and travel.

About you

  • Name: Jiri Eischmann

  • FAS username: eischmann

  • How do you primarily contribute to Fedora? (2-3 sentences): I've been a Fedora ambassador for the Czech Republic since 2011, I organize Fedora presence at local events, and run the Czech Fedora community portal - mojefedora.cz. I'm also a Fedora packager.

About the event

  • Event name(s): LinuxDays 2024

  • Event dates: Oct 12-13, 2024

  • Event location(s): Prague, Czech Republic

  • Event URL(s): https://www.linuxdays.cz/2024/

  • Event description(s) (2-4 sentences per event): It's the biggest Linux event in the Czech Republic with 1000+ attendees. Organized by Czech University of Technology students at their campus.

Requested support

NOTE: The budget amount you request is a hard limit. If actual spend exceeds the requested budget, the extra amount will not be reimbursed. It is suggested to pad your requested budget with a buffer amount, in case of changing travel costs, hotel rates, etc.

  • Support requested: hotel | travel—rail
  • Budget estimates: $150
    • Travel expenses: train Brno-Prague and back - $30
    • Hotel expenses: university hotel, 2 nights - $120

This event & Fedora

  • Are you a speaker or presenter? If yes, give the title and description of your presentation: Fedora Asahi Remix - Linux on Apple Silicon

  • Are you an organizer or volunteer? If yes, explain your role: No

  • Why is it a good idea for the Fedora Project to have a presence?: It's the biggest Linux event in the country, if there is one event to be present at, it's this one.

  • Why do you want to represent the Fedora community here?: Because I'm a Fedora ambassador and it's my job to promote it in my country. :)

  • Are there others in the Fedora community who could help this event be successful? If yes, name any key individuals, teams, or SIGs in the Fedora community needed for success: No.

Other

  • Is there anything else the Fedora Mindshare Committee should know when reviewing your request?:
<!--Thank you for your interest in proposing an event for the Fedora community. This issue template is the first place to start in getting support and/or funding for your event. The Fedora Mindshare Committee is responsible for reviewing, discussing, and voting on your event. +1.

Sorry for not replying earlier - I just found out GitLab was using an old email address that I don't check very often. I'll fix that.

Per Mindshare Committee policy, this event is now approved. @Eischmann is authorized to spend up to $150 USD for LinuxDays 2024 in Prague. This ticket can be closed once @Eischmann submits his event report.

@Eischmann, you can continue to work with me on processing your expenses using the new reimbursement process after you write your event report. :thumbsup_tone1:

@Eischmann shared his event report on his personal blog:

https://enblog.eischmann.cz/2024/10/15/fedora-at-linuxdays-2024/

I have processed the reimbursement. Jiri should have everything he needs to get his expenses paid. I am going to close this issue as complete, since the event report is provided.

Thank you Jiri for representing the Fedora community there in Prague! 🎉 Looking forward to the next one for the Fedora Czech community. :muscle_tone1:
