About you
Name: Artur Frenszek-Iwicki
FAS username: suve
How do you primarily contribute to Fedora? (2-3 sentences): I've been a package maintainer since 2017. Among a slew of random libraries and games, I maintain the Free Pascal Compiler package. I've also helped at the Fedora FOSDEM booth a couple of times.
About the event
Event name(s): Poznańska Impreza Wolnego Oprogramowania (Poznań Free Software Party), a.k.a. PIWO (BEER)
Event dates: Saturday, 7th of June 2025
Event location(s): Lecture Centre of the Poznań University of Technology, in Poznań, Poland
Event URL(s): https://piwo.sh
Event description(s): PIWO is a free to attend, all-day conference focused on Free, Libre and Open Source Software. It features talks and workshops, bringing together students, academics and industry professionals. The event has been hosted from 2004 to 2018; after a 7 year hiatus, it's now back.
Requested support
Swag needs:
Stickers! The more the merrier.
Posters (A3 or bigger).
Some USB sticks and T-shirts (or other wearables) that we could use for prizes would be awesome.
How will you use Fedora budget for this event?: The university has generously offered to cover our food costs, so we'd like to use the budget for posters, rollups, attendee badges, and possibly some "team" T-shirts (to make it easier for attendees to locate one of the organizers, if needed).
This event & Fedora
Are you a speaker or presenter? If yes, give the title and description of your presentation: Maybe. We're currently collecting talk proposals.
Are you an organizer or volunteer? If yes, explain your role: I am one of the organizers of the event. I handle various tasks like setting up some of our IT infrastructure, contacting speakers and media outlets.
Why is it a good idea for the Fedora Project to have a presence?: Because PIWO fills an important niche on the Poznań event scene - it is (AFAIK) the only FLOSS-related event that's both all-day (as opposed to many short, evening meetups) and free to attend (as opposed to commercial events). As the event is coming back after a 7 year hiatus, it presents a great opportunity for Fedora to establish itself as one of the sponsors of this revival.
Why do you want to represent the Fedora community here?: Because Fedora is my distro of choice and I want PIWO to be the event of choice for FLOSS enthusiasts in Poland. ;) Also, I've talked about Fedora on previous editions on PIWO, so it's natural to continue doing this now that the event is back.
Are there others in the Fedora community who could help this event be successful? If yes, name any key individuals, teams, or SIGs in the Fedora community needed for success:

Hehe nice name, free as in piwo. +1
@suvepl Nice event. As far as I can tell, you are only requesting swag items, no budget for travel or accommodation. This seems workable.
I can ship some things to you from our warehouse supply in California, which is closing down at the end of June. However, that does not include stickers. If I provided a budget of $150, would you be able to order stickers/swag on your own, and then reimburse that to Fedora? I forget if you are a Red Hat employee or not, this will impact which course we follow for getting this amount funded.
Yes, that'd certainly be doable.
Nope, I'm not.
I'm happy to say that XIV P.I.W.O. was a success. Despite some organizational problems - we did not, in the end, reach an agreement with the university and had to scramble to find a new location (and the budget for it) - the event attracted almost 200 attendees (198, to be exact), which was far more than we expected. I think it's safe to say that everyone's excited to do this again next year, and with a long list of "things we could have done better", I believe that the next edition will turn out even greater.
Hi @suvepl are there any outstanding items for this request, or can I go ahead and mark this ticket as closed-complete?
Go ahead. No idea why I didn't close it myself those two months ago.
No worries at all, I often forget to close things out too! 😆
Thanks again for supporting Fedora at this event and great to hear it was a success!
