Why is it a good idea for the Fedora Project to have a presence?: This event supports Fedora’s goal of growing its contributor base, especially in underrepresented regions. We need to make Fedora more accessible and relatable to even underrepresented regions. The regional representation postcards(proposed ticket here) and swag also build local visibility for Fedora.
Why do you want to represent the Fedora community here?: I believe this is one of the easy ways to even start making contributions as a new contributor. As a volunteer, it’s my joy to create welcoming, engaging spaces for folks joining Fedora even for students in my region.
Are there others in the Fedora community who could help this event be successful? If yes, name any key individuals, teams, or SIGs in the Fedora community needed for success: Yes.

Per the Small Event Policy, this ticket has sufficient votes to be approved, but will only be approved automatically if there are no -1 votes before the end of the day on Friday, 31 October.

However, I have a very hard time seeing an objection, and the detailed budget overview on the Wiki page is particularly helpful!

One thing I didn't understand and didn't cover in the budget is my transportation(outside my town), which will cost about 10–12 USD before the approval. I'll add that, and if you'd still need to vote on it, you can just react with a thumbs up.

And another thing I've realised is that there's a chance I can't do photography. The local people who do that can't provide receipts, so if that's the case, I'll just use my phone and we'll cancel that budget. If I had to hire a professional photographer, it would probably go beyond the small event budget anyway.

For the public Mindshare Committee ticket, no further action is required. This ticket will now be closed.

However, it is worth bringing to the attention of the wider Committee that the reimbursement for this event and Cornellius's previous event are still ongoing. This makes me very sad. I'm optimistic that both events will get paid out soon, maybe even this week. 🙏🏻 I also want to commend Cornellius for being the first person in Kenya, and actually all of East Africa, to go through this modern Mindshare Committee process. Along the way, I personally learned a lot about international banking systems, global finance, and to be frank, how darn hard it is to get money across borders. Cornellius has fronted a lot of these costs out of his own pocket while waiting for the reimbursements. This is NOT how the process should work. As part of the work for #90, I want to continue refining this overall process of how we get money out to people for doing events like this, especially the small ones.

The work on reimbursing Cornellius continues in the private reimbursement tickets, but we will not let this long process for receiving reimbursement define us! Thanks to Cornellius, we have valuable feedback that we can take for improving our processes so that we can have a more inclusive, global community with access to the resources that Fedora has available. It has been a long journey to get here, but I care a lot about this, and we will continue to improve.
