Since the committee has had a rejuvenation since the Fedora Linux 42 elections and a tightened scope of functioning, I think that it is only appropriate that we not only let folks know about the same (through the initial Fedora Mindshare Progress Update) but also interact with them in the open forum (through the townhall structured questions/answers). If one follows the ticket list, they would find that the ones requesting the Fedora Mindshare's assistance are mostly those that already have before and hence, it would be mutually good to spread the word about us using our in-person presence at the flagship Fedora Project event, Flock To Fedora 2026.

The following is the body of the proposal.

Title

Fedora Mindshare Townhall Session - From Conferences to Recognition

Session type

Presentation, long (55 minutes)

Track

General

Abstract

From getting resources for swagpacks to laying foundations for conferences, the Fedora Mindshare Townhall Session creates an inclusive and structured space for attendees to meet with their representatives, discuss community health, talk engagement strategies, and identify recognition opportunities and evaluate regional growth. This session will briefly cover what the committee has been up to since the last Flock To Fedora conference, before opening up the space for curious questions and open conversations.

While focusing on surfacing challenges and exploring opportunities related to contributor experience, crossteam collaboration, event impacts and outreach effectiveness, participants will be encouraged to share perspectives from their home regions, propose improvements to the committee's processes, and identify concrete next steps that can strengthen the Fedora Project's global community over the next release cycles. Hence, this session intends to take full advantage of both the participants and attendees present at the event.

Notes

While I would help host the session, the session would be co-participated by the likes of Greg Sutcliffe, Sumantro Mukherjee, Emma Kidney, Luis Bazan, Joseph Gayoso and Justin Wheeler.

Themes

I am structuring this as being more of an AMA (or AUA as in Ask Us Anything) kind of session. I also realize that the term is likely to get refreshed by then so we need to find a way to navigate through that as well. I am open to having both incoming members and retained members on the stage for this but I am open to hearing opinions on this approach. We, of course, would start with a quick progress update on what all we have been upto in the past term (i.e. from the previous Flock to this Flock) to get people up to speed but after that, it is going to free form interaction with the community folks. Does that make sense?

Discussed in 2026-05-28 Mindshare Committee meeting.

Summary: The Committee finalized the format for the Mindshare Town Hall session at Flock 2026. The panel will feature an introduction of the renewed charter, reflections from both incoming and outgoing members on their term and handover, and conclude with an Ask Us Anything (AMA) segment with the audience.

Action Items & Next Steps:

  • !agreed For the panel structure and organization, @jflory7 will chair/moderate the panel. @jflory7 will kick off by introducing the Mindshare Committee itself, the renewed charter at a high-level, and then pass over to each Committee member to introduce themselves and speak toward their part of the charter. There may be one or two additional questions added to the ticket for each panelist to answer before the floor is yielded to the audience for Q&A.

Here's the progress update slide deck. The sequence that we would want to follow here is, introductions first, then updates and finally, questionnaire as mentioned before. Here's the slide deck if you get a 404 due to the invalid GitHub account flagging.
