Fix typographical errors in miscellaneous sections #200

This pull request makes the following changes to the tutorials and sbc sections, as well partials and remaining top-level pages:

Fix spelling and punctuation errors.
Switch to US English spellings where applicable.
Avoid the use of hidden/ambiguous Unicode characters where ASCII characters would suffice.

I tried to take a light-touch approach here, but happy to update the PR if any changes are too aggressive.

Not sure what the final quote on this is for... it seems like it is actually a trailing quote and can be removed.

I had noticed that it was probably superfluous but left it alone since I hadn't reviewed the code block in full.
